NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Make 2023 Blockbuster Trade(s)

The NHL trade deadline is less than two months away and there's expected to be a flurry of transactions on the way. Buyers are starting to realize they have a chance to contend, meanwhile the sellers are starting to be identified as the standings take shape across the league. Here's a few teams to watch who are expected to make massive changes before March 3:

San Jose Sharks

With Erik Karlsson turning back the clock and propelling himself up the trade list, along with star forward Timo Meier having a career season, the San Jose Sharks are a team to watch ahead of the trade deadline. They will be tanking for a chance to draft Connor Bedard and the likes of James Reimer and Nick Bonino join Meier and Karlsson as trade chips the Sharks will dangle.

Chicago Blackhawks

Word is the preliminary trade talks with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane and Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson are supposed to be taken place this month. Kane is currently banged up but nothing serious, meanwhile Toews is enjoying a bounce-back season after a couple of down years which included a health scare. Kane, Toews, Max Domi, Andreas Athanasiou, Jake McCabe, Sam Lafferty, and Seth Jones have all been discussed in trades at some point this season. Expect some big moves from the windy city.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are a team to watch as they have some question marks on defense, in net and up front. For a potentially contending team, there's a lot of holes. Jack Campbell hasn't worked out, Jesse Puljujarvi lost his confidence and the team needs a left-handed defenseman badly. Expect the unexpected from the Oilers, as general manager Ken Holland will be active ahead of March 3.
