NHL Rumors: Canucks Elias Pettersson Wants Out of Vancouver

According to Michael Russo via Puck Empire, Russo feels Elias Pettersson would like to move on from the Vancouver Canucks. It's been a mess of a season for the Canucks and while there's been a ton of trade speculation surrounding several other Canucks, this is the first we've seen regarding Pettersson's preferences.

Earlier this season there were reports Pettersson was one of two untouchables for the franchise with Quinn Hughes as some teams were calling management about a move, however they weren't interested to discuss the Swedish star.

Pettersson is having a great season on a struggling Canucks team. He's recorded 52 points in 40 games and is on pace for over 100 points. His previous career high in points was 66, so Pettersson is going to shatter his personal best in 2022-23.

The 24-year-old is signed through next season at a $7.3 million cap hit and is a pending restricted free agent who is due a $8.8 million qualifying offer. At this point it feels like Brock Boeser, J.T Miller and Bo Horvat will be moved instead of Pettersson, but all it takes is one phone call for everything to change.
