NHL Rumors: Canucks & Hurricanes Talking Blockbuster Trade

Vancouver Canucks star center Bo Horvat is one of the biggest trade targets heading into this deadline season. As a result, several teams have been linked to him already, and that will continue as we continue to get closer to the deadline. Yet, on TSN Insider Trading last night (Jan. 17), Pierre LeBrun reported that the Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes have had trade discussions regarding Horvat.

It isn't a secret that the Hurricanes are looking to add Horvat, as they are aiming to find a replacement offseason departure Vincent Trocheck on the second line. As a result, it makes sense that Horvat is a trade target for them, as he would strengthen their center depth immensely before the postseason. However, LeBrun also noted that the Canucks' asking price is too high right now for Carolina to strike a deal.

It will be intriguing to see if Carolina ups their offer from here. It is clear that Horvat would be a significant addition to their group, as they would be adding another star to their already-strong roster. Alas, we will have to wait and see if these two teams end up striking a blockbuster.
