NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Having Trade Offers Rejected

The Edmonton Oilers are having a terrible time trying to trade struggling forward Jesse Puljujarvi. According to Jim Matheson, the team may need to sweeten the pot just to get someone to bite on a deal.

Puljujarvi has been a trade candidate since the end of the last season when GM Ken Holland admitted he needed to figure out what to do with the polarizing forward after he essentially disappeared at times when the games mattered most.

This season Puljujarvi has been given every chance to make an impact among the team's top six, appearing 39 games, meanwhile only collecting nine points. When you play with Connor McDavid more times than not, nine points isn't going to cut it.

Puljujarvi is still only 24 and is a pending restricted free agent who makes $3 million against the cap. There's been several teams interested in Puljujarvi, including the Anaheim Ducks who scouted him heavily for a couple of weeks, however no team is willing to accept an offer from the Oilers unless it includes a draft pick or prospect.
