NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Linked to Anaheim Ducks Defenseman

The Edmonton Oilers are expected to add a defenseman before the trade deadline passes. They have been linked to players like Vladislav Gavrikov, John Klingberg, and Joel Edmundson because of it, but now there's buzz that they have interest in another veteran - Anaheim Ducks defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, as reported by The Fourth Period.

Shattenkirk is one of the many rental candidates from the Ducks who are expected to be moved before the deadline passes. It is understandable, as Anaheim's playoff chances are essentially zero, and Shattenkirk is the kind of veteran that playoff teams will make a push for. While playing at his best, he offers strong offense from the point, and it does not hurt that he has a Stanley Cup on his resume.

Shattenkirk would provide the Oilers with another solid option for their bottom pairing if acquired. We will have to wait and see if that does in fact come to fruition from here.
