NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Looking to Make Major Splash

It isn't a secret that the Edmonton Oilers are looking to add a notable defenseman to their group before the trade deadline. Ultimately, it makes sense, as this is an area that needs improvement if they want to compete for a Stanley Cup. It appears that they have their eyes set on a major target, as it was reported on TSN Insider Trading yesterday (Jan. 10) that they are expressing interest in Arizona Coyotes star defenseman Jakob Chychrun.

This is not the first time where the Oilers have been linked to Chychrun. Ultimately, it makes sense that they want to bring him in, as he is a legitimate top-pairing defenseman while playing at his best. He not only plays a very steady defensive game, but he also produces quite well from the point offensively. His numbers would likely improve with Edmonton, too, as he would have far better talent playing with him.

Alas, we will have to wait and see if the Oilers end up landing Chychrun at the deadline. On paper, it seems like a perfect match for the player and team.
