LA Kings: 3 Trades to Consider Ahead of 2023 Deadline

Los Angeles Kings general manager Rob Blake is expected to be a busy man leading up to the March 3 trade deadline. The Kings are in the mix in the Western Conference and have surprised many this season. They'll be adding before the deadline and here's a few trades the Kings should consider as buyers:

Blockbuster Deal for Patrick Kane

Kane holds all the cards as he has a no-movement clause. There's been some speculation about a potential knee injury which may require season-ending surgery, but at this point that has not been confirmed. If Kane is healthy enough to finish out the season, Blake needs to make his interest known to Kane and his agent as the Kings would have a good chance to win the sweepstakes.

Kings Need More Goalie Depth

Blake should consider a move for Ottawa Senators goaltender Cam Talbot. He's a pending free agent and would be a huge upgrade to Pheonix Copley. The Sens could retain some money and the Kings could sweeten the pot to ensure the finances make sense to add another piece before the deadline. Ottawa seems to be listening to trade offers so Blake needs to get himself involved as the team doesn't appear in any rush to recall Cal Petersen from the AHL.

Turn Surplus into Upgrade Up Front

The Kings have a number of right-handed defensemen and need to cash in. The likes of Sean Walker or Matt Roy need to be moved so they can make more room for Jordan Spence and eventually Brandt Clarke next season. The Kings could use some more secondary scoring and need to find a winger who can play in their top six.
