NHL Rumors: Hurricanes Making Blockbuster Trade

The Carolina Hurricanes dealt with a tough injury blow on Thursday night as Max Pacioretty appeared to have once again torn his Achilles tendon. Speculation at this point, but the way he responded to a non-contact injury appeared as though it was once again his lower leg which was injured. What does this mean for the Hurricanes?

All signs are now pointing to the Hurricanes to be very aggressive on the trade market as they'll have plenty of cap space to work with as Pacioretty appears headed for LTIR. He makes $7 million in the final season of his contract.

Look for the Hurricanes to be very aggressive trying to land one of Ryan O'Reilly, Jonathan Toews or Timo Meier. All three could do wonders for the Hurricanes, who need a boost up front to bolster their top six.

Carolina sits atop the Metropolitan division with a 28-9-8 record on the season. If they can manage to land another game-breaking forward, look out. At this point it appears the Hurricanes and the Boston Bruins are the teams to beat in the Eastern Conference.
