NHL Rumors: Luke Schenn to Edmonton Oilers Heating Up

Luke Schenn is one of the top rental candidates heading into this year’s trade deadline, so he naturally is getting a lot of attention on the trade market already. The Edmonton Oilers have been viewed as a potential landing spot for the veteran defenseman, and now it appears that there’s a real chance of this coming to fruition. According to the Fourth Period, the Oilers are in fact pushing to acquire Schenn.

Schenn would be a fantastic addition to Edmonton’s lineup, as he would provide them with a sturdy defensive defenseman who also plays with a significant amount of physicality. This is something that the Oilers have needed for a long time, and Schenn would be the perfect player to help change this. This is especially true once the postseason rolls around.

Schenn has shown this season that he can handle playing top-four minutes, and he has been one of the rare bright spots for Vancouver this year because of it. There is an abundance of teams aiming to bring in the veteran defenseman, so the Oilers have a lot of competition for his services. We will have to wait and see if they end up being the lucky club to acquire him from here.
