NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Shopping Defenseman

During a recent 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek reported that Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov’s name is currently out there in the trade market.

With the Flyers having another horrible season, they are expected to be major sellers at the deadline. As a result, it is not too that surprising to hear that Provorov is in fact being shopped by the Flyers. A change of scenery may benefit the 2015 first-round pick, as he has had some struggles over the last few years. Unfortunately, this has translated over to this campaign as well, as he has just 14 points to go along with a minus-8 rating in 40 games played.

Yet, Provorov has shown in the past that he has the potential to be a legitimate top-pairing defenseman while playing at his best. As a result, his market is likely to grow as we get closer to the trade deadline. We will have to wait and see if he ends up being moved in by March. Time will tell if that does in fact come to fruition from here.
