San Jose Sharks: 3 Trades to Consider Ahead of 2023 Deadline

The NHL trade deadline is March 3 and one team expected to make multiple moves is the San Jose Sharks. There's been a ton of chatter surrounding the team already this season so let's dive into the waters on three trades the team should consider before the deadline:

Erik Karlsson to the Ottawa Senators

Not only do the Ottawa Senators need a right-handed defenseman, they also need to reunite with Erik Karlsson. There's been some preliminary discussions between the two clubs already as Karlsson is turning back the clock and is putting up huge numbers this season. His $11.5 million salary is a big hurdle, but the Sharks appear to be willing to retain half. If Karlsson does get moved, the Sens are the early favorites.

Timo Meier to the New York Rangers

There's been a ton of speculation brewing about Patrick Kane, and the fact he may need surgery and could miss the rest of the season. The Rangers were the heavy favorites for Kane, but if that's going to fizzle away, look for the Rangers to jump on Timo Meier from the Sharks. He's having a career season with 24 goals and 43 points in 43 games. The Rangers have a ton of young NHL talent to get this deal done.

James Reimer to the LA Kings

The Kings are in the market for a goaltender and Reimer fits the bill. He's a pending free agent who the Kings know very well and it's expected LA will have serious interest leading up to the trade deadline. Reimer's numbers are down this season, however there's still going to be a market for a deal. There's no chance the Kings start the postseason with Phoenix Copley getting starts.
