Toronto Maple Leafs Make Roster Moves

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed key defenseman T.J. Brodie on injured reserve. As a result of this, Bobby McMann has received the first call-up of his professional hockey career.

Brodie missed Monday's contest with an undisclosed injury, and now we know that he is going to miss at least a week of action due to this IR placement. This certainly isn't perfect news for the Leafs, as Brodie is a solid part of their defensive group due to his steady play and leadership. However, the Maple Leafs will now need to adjust to this latest development without the 32-year-old in the lineup.

As for McMann, it is hard not to feel happy for the 26-year-old, undrafted forward. After completing his collegiate career at Colgate University in 2019-20, he spent time in the AHL and ECHL. Yet, recording a solid 15 points in 17 games with the Toronto Marlies this season, he is now getting his first taste of the NHL.
