Arizona Coyotes Rumors: Forward Linked to Hurricanes

The Arizona Coyotes have two notable trade candidates in Jakob Chychrun and Shayne Gostisbehere. Yet, another player to watch is underrated forward Nick Schmaltz. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Carolina Hurricanes could show interest in Schmaltz if the Coyotes officially shop him at the deadline.

Although Schmaltz has emerged as a key part of the Coyotes' roster, we should not rule out the possibility of them moving him. Keep in mind, they are in a full-on rebuild, and Schmaltz's excellent play over the last few years has his trade value at its highest. Furthermore, he carries an affordable $5.85 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season.

It would make a lot of sense for Carolina to make a push for him, too, as they need to upgrade at the second-line center position. Schmaltz stands out as a great trade candidate for them because of this, as he would provide them with just that. In 42 games this season, the Wisconsin native has 16 goals and 37 points.
