Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: Forward Garnering Trade Interest

The Chicago Blackhawks will be among the league's sellers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline. Although players like Patrick Kane, Jake McCabe, Max Domi, and Sam Lafferty have been talked about, another name that is starting to pick up more steam on the trade market is forward Colin Blackwell.

Blackwell stands out as a decent option for a playoff team looking to add a bit more depth to their forward group for the final stretch of the season. He is having a bit of a down year offensively, however, as he has two goals and nine points in 51 games. Yet, when noting that he also had 10 goals and 20 points in 58 games split between the Seattle Kraken and Toronto Maple Leafs last season, there is reason to believe that he could heat up if he joins a better team.

Blackwell would be more than a rental if acquired by another club, as he has a $1.2 million cap hit until the end of the 2023-24 season. Overall, that is not too expensive for a fourth-liner, so we will need to wait and see if the interest in him around the league leads to him finding a new home by March 3.
