Columbus Blue Jackets: Trade Offers Coming In

The Columbus Blue Jackets continue to discuss several trades as the team is expected to be sellers ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. Management should have Connor Bedard on their minds and should offload any asset they can in order to give themselves the best chance to win the NHL Draft Lottery. Sounds like there's a ton of trade interest in Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner.

Hockey insider Elliotte Friedman had this to say about what the Blue Jackets may end up doing over the course of the next week:

We wait on Gavrikov. After that, we watch to see if Act II is indeed Chychrun. As I’ve written before, that’s a sell job for the Blue Jackets, but they don’t seem scared of it. They like his term and are willing to take the chance. Joonas Korpisalo and Gustav Nyquist are other targets. I’ve heard some love for Boone Jenner, but there’s not many who can handle his contract.

Jenner has three more seasons on his contract paying him $3.7 million per season. He holds a modified no-trade clause which protects him from eight teams. This season he's managed to score 32 points in 46 games and his style of play is perfect for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Teams looking to re-tool their lineups, along with playoff bound teams are likely the ones interested. The Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, and Pittsburgh Penguins should all be considered options.
