Montreal Canadiens Rumors: Trade Offers Being Rejected

The Montreal Canadiens are a team to watch heading into the 2023 trade deadline as they could do just about anything. Some are expecting a quiet deadline from general manager Kent Hughes, meanwhile there's been some rumors about them being open to help three-way deals as well as trying to move a few forwards, including Mike Hoffman. Unfortunately for Hughes, so far, no luck.

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, there's no trade interest in Hoffman at this point.

The Canadiens winger has one season left on his contract, paying him $4.5 million. Hoffman has recorded 23 points in 43 games this season, including nine goals. His offensive numbers have dipped these past few seasons after once being a 36-goal scorer with the Florida Panthers back in 2018-19. Hoffman signed a three-year $13.5 million contract with then GM Marc Bergevin.

Hughes would love to create some more salary cap flexibility during this trade season and it would certainly help to start with moving Hoffman off the books. The Habs GM may have to add a draft pick to sweeten the pot.
