Detroit Red Wings Rumors: Bertuzzi Linked to Contender

While on Hockey Night in Canada, NHL insider Jeff Marek reported that the Tampa Bay Lightning are reportedly one of the teams currently attached to Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi.

The Lightning have become famous for bringing in hard-nosed players at the deadline over the last few years, and adding Bertuzzi would certainly follow that trend. The 27-year-old is noted for playing a heavy game, but while playing at his best, he also can produce at an excellent pace in the process. Although he has just seven points in 20 contests this campaign, injuries are to blame. Keep in mind, this is a forward who had 30 goals and 62 points in 68 games just last season.

Bertuzzi would give the Lightning another quality option for their second line as they gear up for the postseason. We will need to wait and see if their interest in the scrappy winger leads to them winning the sweepstakes from here. On paper, there could be a perfect match here.
