Sharks Send Timo Meier to the Devils

The New Jersey Devils are loading up as they've acquired power forward Timo Meier from the San Jose Sharks. Hockey insider Pierre LeBrun was the first to report the news.

Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald made things loud and clear weeks ago when he confirmed he was looking to add a top-six winger with term on his contract. Meier was the initial #1 target and sure enough a trade has unfolded.

Meier gets to play with close friend Nico Hischier in New Jersey. Meier is having a great season, recording 52 points in 57 games. He's a pending restricted free agent and will now begin to discuss a long-term contract extension with the Devils.
