Edmonton Oilers Rumors: Forward Being Linked to Canadiens

The Edmonton Oilers are expected to trade Jesse Puljujarvi before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline passes, and now he is starting to garner some interest around the league because of it. According to The Fourth Period, the Montreal Canadiens are expressing interest in the 2016 first-round pick.

With the Canadiens going through a rebuild, it is understandable that they are considering the idea of taking a chance on a former top prospect like Puljujarvi. The 24-year-old would have the opportunity to have a bigger role on the Canadiens, as their forward group is far weaker than Edmonton's. As a result, Pujujarvi could be in the running for second-line minutes and power play time because of it. This, in turn, could lead to him getting his development back on track.

Puljujarvi has struggled this season, as he has just five goals and 13 points in 54 games. Due to this and his $3 million cap hit, his trade value is immensely low, but a rebuilding team like the Canadiens are in a position to take a chance on him. We will need to wait and see if he ends up being moved to Montreal from here.
