New Jersey Devils Rumors: GM Acquiring Sharks' Timo Meier

The Timo Meier sweepstakes are coming to an end and all signs are pointing to a blockbuster trade between the San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils.

The Devils have been linked to Meier since day one as GM Tom Fitzgerald may it loud and clear he was going to go out and acquire a top-six winger with term. Meier is a pending restricted free agent, he's in the prime of his career and he's close friends with New Jersey captain Nico Hischier. Could the Vegas Golden Knights derail Fitzy's dreams? Very small chance at this point.

It all made sense from day one and all the insiders are suggesting the trade will go down as early as Sunday afternoon. Meier has been a touch banged up of late and has been kept out of the Sharks' lineup.

So far in 57 games, the power forward has recorded 31 goals and 52 points. Meier will fit in perfectly for the Devils and should they land some solid goaltending come Stanley Cup Playoffs, there's a chance the Devils do some serious damage this postseason.

More to come once the details of the trade are released. If it's indeed the Devils, look for either Dawson Mercer or Alexander Holtz to be included in the package.
