Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: Trade Offer Rejected, Out on Forward

The Carolina Hurricanes gave it their best shot but at the end of the day it wasn't good enough for San Jose Sharks general manager Mike Grier. The 'Canes have been informed they are out on the Timo Meier sweepstakes.

The Hurricanes lost Max Pacioretty for the season due to another Achilles injury and turned their attention to landing Meier, a power forward who is a pending RFA and in need of a long-term contract. The Sharks forward is having the best all-around season of his career. He's scored 52 points in 57 games and can impact the game with his physicality as well.

As for the Hurricanes offer, it was likely included '23 first-round pick and young forward Seth Jarvis. Meanwhile Grier is apparently looking for at least two first rounders in the package. We'll see where Meier ends up on Sunday at the earliest, however you can now cross the Canes off the list.
