NHL Rumors: 4 Top Prospects Who Could Be Traded Before 2023 Deadline

The NHL trade deadline is one week away and there's already been a flurry of moves of late. Trade talks continue as it's expected to be a very busy deadline and when it comes to top prospects, let's showcase four who are very much in play for their current teams:

Alexander Holtz, New Jersey Devils

The Devils are being aggressive this season and are expected to add a significant piece up front. GM Tom Fitzgerald wants a player with term left on their contract and in order to do, it's likely you'll see Alexander Holtz involved in the trade.

Jordan Spence, LA Kings

The Kings don't want to part with Brandt Clarke but have made 22-year-old Jordan Spence available via trade talks. He's a right-handed defenseman who has lit up the AHL. While he wasn't a first-round pick, Spence has all the tools to one day be a top-four NHL regular.

Sean Behrens, Colorado Avalanche

Speaking of young defenseman, Sean Behrens of the Avs is someone to watch. He's a NCAA product and is lighting it up with University of Denver, and has shown on the world stage he's capable of being an impact player. Expect the Avalanche to try and land a center and could use Behrens as bait.

Erik Portillo, Buffalo Sabres

The University of Michigan product is a monster at 6-foot-6 and has still yet to sign an NHL contract with the Sabres. Portillo is someone who could be involved in trade talks as the Sabres have been linked to Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson.
