NHL Rumors: Carolina Hurricanes Talking Trade With Flyers

The Carolina Hurricanes are having a great season and are easily one of the favorites heading into the deadline. However, it also is not a secret that they are in need of a second-line center, as Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Paul Stastny have not been the answer for the role. As a result, there are rumblings that they are looking to acquire Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes.

The Flyers are shopping Hayes, and there is a good chance that he will end up being traded by the deadline because of it. It ultimately makes sense, as the Flyers are still rebuilding, and Hayes' trade value is at its highest due to his strong season. In 52 games on the year, the 30-year-old has 16 goals and 46 points. Due to his excellent play, he also was named to his first All-Star Game.

The Flyers would need to retain salary to make this move work, but at the end of the day, there could be a big match here with the Hurricanes. We will need to wait and see if the Hurricanes do in fact elect to bring in the Massachusetts native from here.
