NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks Defenseman Open to Staying Put

While on TSN Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun reported that Vancouver Canucks defenseman Luke Schenn is fine with staying with the team and even signing an extension if the right offer comes along.

This is a very intriguing development, as Schenn is one of the most appealing defensemen who could be traded at the deadline. Due to his very strong season and cheap contract, the Canucks could land a solid return for him. However, now Schenn has opened the door to the Canucks keeping him around.

There is no question that several playoff teams could use a hard-nosed defensive defenseman like Schenn. He has truly resurrected his career as a Canuck, and he is arguably having the best season of his career in the process. In 51 games thus far, he has three goals, 18 assists, a plus-8 rating, and a whopping 244 hits.

We will now need to wait and see if the Canucks sign Schenn to an extension or move him at the deadline from here.
