NHL Rumors: Golden Knights Being Linked to Blues Star Center

The Vegas Golden Knights are a team to watch very closely at the trade deadline. Captain Mark Stone has been ruled out indefinitely due to undergoing back surgery, and this could very well lead the Golden Knights to make a big splash because of it. It appears that they are at least considering the prospect of doing this, as they are one of the teams currently linked to St. Louis Blues captain Ryan O'Reilly, according to The Fourth Period.

Although Stone is a winger, it is clear that the Golden Knights could use a boost down the middle. As a result, it makes sense that they are looking at O'Reilly as a trade target. Keep in mind, he also is an NHL captain, so he could provide some much-needed leadership that is currently lost with Stone being sidelined.

If the Golden Knights acquired O'Reilly, he could be a perfect addition to either their second or third line. Yet, no matter what his role would be, Vegas would look a lot better on paper than they do now. This is especially true when noting that his elite two-way play makes him effective on both the power play and penalty kill.

Nevertheless, we will now need to wait and see if the Golden Knights' interest in O'Reilly results in them being the lucky club to acquire the star center at the deadline.
