San Jose Sharks Rumors: Trade Talks Include 4 Teams In On Meier

With Ryan O'Reilly of the St Louis Blues off the trade board, lots of the attention will be shifted solely to Timo Meier of the San Jose Sharks. There's no doubt he's the best player available this trade season and the Sharks have been discussing deals with several teams. Here's the latest on the Meier sweepstakes:

Carolina Hurricanes

The 'Canes want to add an impact player as they have loads of cap space to work with before the deadline. Meier fits exactly what they could use more of as he's a power forward who can be very productive offensively. We've see Carolina make bold moves in the past and this could end up being their latest work. Seth Jarvis and prospect Ryan Suzuki may be involved here.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils want a top-six winger with term left on their contract and Meier is priority number one at this point. He's friends with Devils captain Nico Hischier and as a pending restricted free agent would sign a long-term extension to stay in New Jersey for the foreseeable future. Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald is going to be aggressive this season and look for the Devils to be in on Meier to the bitter end.

Calgary Flames

The Flames are looking at many options as GM Brad Treliving is trying to acquire some more scoring. Meier is a hard-working forward who could fit in well under a Darryl Sutter run team. There's been a lot of recent drama going on in Calgary so perhaps a Meier acquisition could calm the waters.

Dallas Stars

The Stars continue to fly under the radar when it comes to trade season as they've been quietly linked to a number of big names including Meier and Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane. Meier would give Dallas a huge boost to their top six and would certainly improve the Stars chances of getting back to the Stanley Cup Final.
