Vancouver Canucks' 2023 Trade Deadline Needs

The Vancouver Canucks already made what may be the blockbuster of the 2023 trade deadline by sending Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders in exchange for Anthony Beauvillier, Aatu Raty, and a first round pick. But they aren't done there as they should continue to retool their roster by making a few more trades.

The goal that the Canucks have is to make more money available. They started that already as Beauvillier is half the cost of Horvat moving forward. The team still has work to do as there are many more players in the rumour mill including Brock Boeser, Conor Garland, Thatcher Demko, Tyler Myers, and Luke Schenn. The Canucks are planning on coming back stronger next season, so they are diving into a rebuild. Whatever they move, they hope to get back similar or more effective new faces at a cheaper cost in trades or free agency.

The Canucks will continue to look for potential roster players over future picks so they are able to get back to the playoffs next season. Many of those names I mentioned above have term left on their deals and would clear unnecessary cap space tied up in underperforming players.
