Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2023 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest installment, we will be focusing on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Patrick Kane: The Hurricanes were linked to Patrick Kane leading up to the deadline, so he could be a player who they look to sign this offseason if he hits the market. When noting that Max Pacioretty's contract expires, the Hurricanes will have some money to work with and should look to find a replacement for him because of it.

Ryan O'Reilly: If Ryan O'Reilly does not re-sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he should be a primary target for the Hurricanes. They have not found a second-line center replacement for Vincent Trocheck after he left this past offseason, and signing O'Reilly could be a great way to fix this ongoing issue.

Joonas Korpisalo: The Hurricanes have two pending UFA goaltenders in Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta, so they will look to add a goalie this summer if they both leave. With Carolina having a promising young netminder in Pyotr Kochetkov, they could look to add a goaltender like Joonas Korpisalo and form a strong tandem between the two. In 33 games this season, Korpisalo has a 15-11-4 record and .915 SV%.
