Ottawa Senators Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2023 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

Let's kick off this series with the Ottawa Senators, as they are a team on the rise who will be looking to spend money this summer.

Matt Dumba: The Senators were linked to Matt Dumba at times this season before the deadline, so there is no question that he is a player that they like. As a result of this and their need for a top-four right-shot defenseman, it certainly seems likely that they will try to sign him if he hits the free-agent market this offseason.

John Klingberg: Another high-impact right-shot defenseman who the Senators could look to sign this offseason is John Klingberg. The 30-year-old may have had a down year while with the Anaheim Ducks, but he has shown improvement in his play since being dealt to the Minnesota Wild. Therefore, he could be a player worth adding to their top four on a two-year or three-year contract.

Ryan Reaves: If the Senators lose or let Austin Watson walk through free agency this offseason, they will miss his toughness on their fourth line. Due to this, they could look at a player like Ryan Reaves this summer. He is quietly having a solid season playing fourth-line minutes, as he has five goals, 14 points, and 176 hits in 65 games played.
