Montreal Canadiens Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots for Joel Edmundson

The Montreal Canadiens were listening to offers for Joel Edmundson before the deadline passed, but a move did not come to fruition. Yet, when noting that he garnered a lot of interest around the league, that certainly could change during the summer. Thus, let’s discuss three possible landing spots for him.

Carolina Hurricanes: Edmundson’s former team, the Carolina Hurricanes, reportedly were expressing interest in him before the deadline passed. As a result, it does not seem too out of the question for them to pursue him again this summer. He would be a major addition to the left side of their defensive group, as he plays a very steady, defensive game and provides physicality in the process.

Los Angeles Kings: The Los Angeles Kings were also linked to Edmundson before the deadline passed, but they opted to bring in Vladislav Gavrikov instead. However, with Gavrikov being a pending unrestricted free agent, the Kings may need to add another left-shot defenseman in the summer. With Edmundson playing a similar game to Gavrikov, there could be a good match here.

New York Rangers: The New York Rangers have a very strong roster, but it would be wise for them to improve on the left side of their defensive group. As a result, it would not be surprising in the slightest if they end up being one of the many teams that make a push to acquire Edmundson this summer because of it.
