Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Candidates

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players from each team who could be moved during the summer.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Carolina Hurricanes.

Jordan Martinook: The Hurricanes are going to need to free up some cap space this offseason if they hope to re-sign key players and add to their roster elsewhere. Therefore, they could look to trade Jordan Martinook and his $1.8 million cap hit this offseason. Martinook, who was waived before the start of the season, has 11 goals and 31 points in 73 games on the year. It's been a career year for the 30-year-old, and the Hurricanes could get a good return for him because of it.

Dylan Coghlan: Dylan Coghlan has become the odd man out on Carolina's blueline, so he is a player who could be made available this offseason. In 17 games this season with Carolina, he has three assists to go along with a minus-1 rating. There could be some teams willing to bring in the 6-foot-2 right-shot defenseman.

Jack Drury: If the Hurricanes want to make a notable trade this offseason, they will likely need to add Jack Drury to it. Drury is the kind of young player that rebuilders would love to acquire, as he could become a second-line center later down the road. However, he also has struggled in the NHL this season, as he has just five points in 29 games.
