New York Rangers Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Candidates

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Candidates series. During it, we will be looking at three players from each team who could be moved during the summer.

In this latest episode, we will be focusing on the New York Rangers.

Alexis Lafreniere: Before the trade deadline, there was some speculation over Alexis Lafreniere's future in New York. Due to the Rangers' strong forward depth, the 2020 first-overall pick has yet to emerge as a star forward. With the Rangers being contenders, they could use Lafreniere's trade value to help them land a star that would help them immediately.

Kaapo Kakko: Kaapo Kakko has also been in the rumor mill this season. The 22-year-old winger was once a top prospect, but he is having trouble becoming the star forward that the Rangers hoped he would become. However, perhaps a move to a rebuilding team could help the 2019 second-overall pick develop into a top-six forward at the NHL level. With that, he still has plenty of value, so the Rangers could get a big return for him.

Libor Hajek: The Rangers shopped Libor Hajek all season, but they were unable to find him a new home. Yet, when noting that he is a pending RFA, they could try to move him for a late-round draft pick this summer. In 16 games with the Blueshirts this year, he has a goal and a plus-2 rating.
