Top Blackhawks Prospects With NHL Opportunities For Remainder of 2022-23

The Chicago Blackhawks continued to sell as many assets as they could at the trade deadline, further opening up spots for young players on their team. They have sheltered top prospect Lukas Reichel from the NHL for most of the season, but have recently called him up and inserted him on the top line. He has looked great and is giving the team no indication to send him back down or even demote him to a lower line. He has two goals and six points in eight games and is being given a great opportunity right out of the gate to show what he has against the opponents' top players.

After completing four years at university, Cole Guttman quickly made a name for himself in the Blackhawks' organization by putting up 16 goals and 30 points in 39 games. That also got him a recent promotion to the NHL at age 23 and he has jumped right into the fire. He has three goals and an assist in 12 games while centering the second line. Though there are a couple of injuries up front, I can see him settling in as a strong bottom-six option moving forward with the potential for more. The remainder of the season is going to provide him with every opportunity to continue to impress and gain confidence in the NHL.

There is nearly nothing left on defence for the Blackhawks as the Jones brothers and Connor Murphy lead the charge. Other than that there are either fringe NHL defencemen or youngsters expected to fill the lineup for the remainder of the season. The team has a number of prospects to choose from on defence as Ian Mitchell and Filip Roos are currently getting the call, but there is also Alex Vlasic, Isaak Phillips, and Alec Regula with NHL experience and wanting a chance. This is a very young team with tons of opportunities. Many will get their chance this season, but many more will over what projects to be a long rebuild.
