Washington Capitals Rumors: Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

The Washington Capitals are aiming to turn things back around next season, so they are expected to have a busy summer. They are looking to add a top-six forward to their group, and they reportedly are considering the idea of trading away young forward Connor McMichael to make that come to fruition.

With Alex Ovechkin likely in the final seasons of his career, the Capitals want him to go out on a legitimate contender. Although they are expected to miss the playoffs this year, it is fair to say that their Stanley Cup window could open again if they make some big moves over the summer. Therefore, trading away a young forward like McMichael could make sense if it results in them adding an upgrade for the present.

Several rebuilding teams would love to get their hands on McMichael, as many believe that he has the potential to become a top-six forward as he continues to gain more NHL experience. Furthermore, if he joins a team with a weaker forward group, it could open the door for him to receive more playing NHL chances and playing time.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Capitals do in fact trade McMichael during the offseason from here.
