Columbus Blue Jackets Rumors: Prospect to be Signed Shortly

According to Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch, the Columbus Blue Jackets are expected to sign Dmitry Voronkov after the KHL's Gagarin Cup final.

Voronkov is currently with Ak Bars Kazan, and they are tied with Avangard Omsk 1-1 in the series.
Therefore, it appears that these two clubs are evenly matched, so the Blue Jackets may need to wait a bit before it is over. However, once a champion is determined, don't be surprised to see Voronkov ink his ELC and become a Blue Jacket.

The Blue Jackets selected Voronkov with the 114th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and it is a selection that they are likely happy that they made. The 22-year-old winger is showing good promise in the KHL, as he put together an 18-goal and 31-point campaign in 54 regular-season games this season. With that, he also has eight points in 13 postseason games thus far.

The 6-foot-4 forward should be in the running for NHL time next season with the Blue Jackets, so we will need to wait and see when he officially inks his ELC from here.
