Montreal Canadiens Rumors: 3 Free Agents to Target This Offseason

Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' 2023 Free-Agent Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three pending unrestricted free agents that each team should aim to sign.

In this latest episode of the series, we will be focusing on the Montreal Canadiens.

Max Pacioretty: Could the Canadiens look to bring back former captain Max Pacioretty on a one-year deal at a cheap cap hit? It has been brought up in the rumor mill, and it would be very intriguing to see. He would provide them with a solid top-six winger, and he could be a good mentor for their younger players as they continue their rebuild.

Pierre Engvall: The Canadiens could look to replace Jonathan Drouin with a forward like Pierre Engvall. The 26-year-old has shown over these last two seasons that he can be a solid secondary scorer. In 72 games this season split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders, he has 17 goals and 29 points.

Nick Ritchie: Nick Ritchie could be an interesting player for the Canadiens to bring in. He displayed with the Arizona Coyotes that he can be a solid contributor to a rebuilding team and could be a decent rental candidate at next year's deadline if he's inked to a one-year pact. With that, he would give their bottom six plenty of grit.
