Nashville Predators Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The Nashville Predators made major changes to their group before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline passed, moving Mattias Ekholm, Tanner Jeannot, Mikael Granlund, and Nino Niederreiter. More moves are expected to occur during the offseason as they continue their retool, and Ryan McDonagh is emerging as a possible trade candidate because of it.

The Predators acquired McDonagh from the Tampa Bay Lightning last offseason when they had expectations of being a top team in the Western Conference. However, after missing the playoffs and moving on from multiple veterans, it seems quite possible that McDonagh will be the next player on the move from Nashville.

McDonagh is still a solid top-four defenseman at this point of his career, so there should be a good amount of interest in his services. However, it is also important to note that he carries a full no-trade clause, so he has complete control over if and where he will be moved. We will need to wait and see if the veteran ends being moved from here.

In 71 games this season with the Predators, McDonagh had two goals, 20 points, and a plus-12 rating.
