NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Jonathan Drouin This Offseason

Jonathan Drouin has needed a change of scenery for quite some time, and now he will finally get the chance for one as a free agent this summer. He should get some interest around the league from teams looking to boost up their third line, as he is coming off of a 29-point campaign in 58 games with the Montreal Canadiens. Let's discuss three teams who are expected to target him now.

Chicago Blackhawks: Don't be surprised if the rebuilding Blackhawks take a chance on Drouin on a one-year deal. Drouin has shown that he can produce in the right role, and the Blackhawks showed last season that they are willing to take chances on players with upside (as evidenced by Max Domi). Thus, look for them to be in the mix.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins have fired their front office, and changes to their roster show follow next. The Penguins could use another playmaker on their third line, so they could certainly be in the mix for Drouin's services this offseason.

New York Islanders: The New York Islanders are another club who could use more production from their middle six and power play. As a result, they could look at Drouin as a potential upgrade over a player like Josh Bailey.
