Ottawa Senators Rumors: Defenseman's Time With Team Over

The Ottawa Senators are expected to have a busy offseason as they aim to become a playoff team in 2023-24. However, it has now been confirmed that one player from their 2022-23 roster will not be back next season, as the Senators have told Nick Holden that they will not re-sign him this summer, according to Bruce Garrioch.

Holden has quietly been a solid piece of the Senators' defensive group over the last two seasons. However, after acquiring Jakob Chychrun, their left side is plenty deep enough to go on without Holden. As a result, the 35-year-old will now be looking for a new home elsewhere.

Holden put together a solid season for the Senators this year, as he had two goals to go along with 16 points and 79 hits in 65 games. When noting that he is a solid defensive defenseman who likely can be had at a cheap price, expect a market to form for him.

In 654 career games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights, and Senators, he has 52 goals, 126 assists, and 178 points.
