NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Joonas Korpisalo This Offseason

Heading into the 2022-23 season, Joonas Korpisalo was coming off of back-to-back poor seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets. However, he has bounced back this season marvelously and is one of the top free-agent goaltenders set to hit the open market because of it. As a result, let's discuss three teams who are expected to pursue him this offseason.

Los Angeles Kings: The Los Angeles Kings are expected to try to re-sign Korpisalo this offseason. He has been excellent since his arrival at the trade deadline, as he had a 7-3-1 record, 2.13 GAA, and .921 SV% in 11 games. When noting that goaltending was also a major issue for the Kings this season before he was acquired, they are very likely going to try to keep him around.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins missed the playoffs this season, and a major reason for that was their inconsistent goaltending. With Tristan Jarry being a pending UFA, they are likely to let him walk, and Korpisalo could be a solid upgrade over him as their new number-one netminder.

Ottawa Senators: The Ottawa Senators are another club that could consider pursuing Korpisalo. Cam Talbot is a pending UFA, and they could use a veteran netminder like Korpisalo to replace them. The Senators are also heading into next season with playoff expectations, so they may want an upgrade from their current Mads Sogaard-Anton Forsberg tandem.
