NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Tomas Tatar This Offseason

Tomas Tatar should get a lot of attention on the free-agent market this offseason. Although he is not a star, he is a strong middle-six winger who is having a very good season with the New Jersey Devils this year. In 81 games, the 32-year-old has 20 goals, 47 points, and a notable plus-41 rating. With this year's free agency class being fairly weak, there will be several teams calling him. Let's discuss three specific teams expected to target him.

Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins are officially out of playoff contention, and changes will be happening this offseason because of it. They are in need of more secondary scoring, so look for them to be among the clubs who pursue Tatar. Keep in mind, Jason Zucker is also a pending UFA, and they will need to replace him if he walks.

Washington Capitals: The Washington Capitals are another team who underperformed this season. They are looking to stay competitive during the final years of Alex Ovechkin's career, and they will be looking to make upgrades to their group because of it. As a result, they could make a push for Tatar and add him to their middle six.

Dallas Stars: The Dallas Stars could use a boost at left wing, so look for them to be in on the Tatar sweepstakes. He would be a nice fit on their second line, as he would provide them with more production and help on their power play.
