NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target James van Riemsdyk This Offseason

James van Riemsdyk is a pending UFA who the Philadelphia Flyers are expected to let walk as they embrace their rebuild. As a result, let's go over three possible landing spots for the 2007 second-overall pick.

Detroit Red Wings: During the final hour of the trade deadline, a few insiders reported that JVR was moved to the Detroit Red Wings. However, the deal ended up falling through due to financial issues. However, now that JVR is set to be a UFA, we should expect to see Detroit in the mix for his services. It is clear that they have an interest in him.

Vegas Golden Knights: The Vegas Golden Knights were in on the JVR sweepstakes leading up to the deadline. Now that the veteran forward can be had a much cheaper price, expect them to bring him in to help improve their middle six.

Winnipeg Jets: The Winnipeg Jets were also interested in JVR this season, so it seems probable that they will look to sign him this offseason. It is clear that they need more scoring depth, so bringing in a power-play specialist like JVR sounds like a good idea on paper.
