NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Matt Dumba This Offseason

Matt Dumba was one of the biggest names in the rumor mill leading up to the deadline, but the Minnesota Wild elected to keep him for their upcoming playoff run. However, due to the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter buyout penalties, the Wild likely do not have the cap space to bring him back. Thus, let's discuss three teams who are expected to pursue him this summer.

Ottawa Senators: The Ottawa Senators were linked to Dumba before the deadline passed, so they are a team to watch. It is clear that they need to improve the right side of their defensive group, and getting Dumba would do just that, as he can play top-four minutes and chip in offensively from the point.

Vancouver Canucks: The Vancouver Canucks are expected to make changes to their group this summer. One area that they are aiming to improve is the right side of their defensive group, so look for them to be in on the Dumba sweepstakes. Keep in mind, they have been linked to him in the past as well.

New Jersey Devils: The New Jersey Devils are likely to lose Damon Severson this offseason through free agency, so they could look to replace him with Dumba. After all, Dumba is a top-four defenseman like Severson, and they play a similar game.
