Ottawa Senators Rumors: 2 UFAs Could Return Next Season

The Ottawa Senators are in store for a busy offseason. There is everything surrounding Alex DeBrincat and whether the team can sign him long-term or not, as well as Cam Talbot heading to free agency and looking for a new goalie.

Talbot was offered a one-year deal, but was looking for at least two years on his next contract. Similarly, the Senators offered the same term to Austin Watson when he was wanting the same as Talbot. Watson hasn't been ruled out and could still return next season. As a fourth liner, he won't get very many offers, if any, around the league and likely values security the most.

The other upcoming unrestricted free agent in question is Travis Hamonic who could return on a one-year deal. The team is more cap-strapped now with Josh Norris expected to be healthy by next season, the acquisition of Jakob Chychrun, and DeBrincat's increased cap hit, so they won't be able to go out and really address the ride side of their defence. Hamonic played 75 games for the Senators this season and was fairly solid, but I wouldn't consider him a top-four option anymore as he's been used as.

Expect the offseason to be filled with action for the Senators as they once again attempt to build a team that can make it back to the postseason.
