Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors: Forward Likely Moving On In Free Agency

The Pittsburgh Penguins didn't take long to switch up management, but that doesn't appear to be the only thing the team is going to be altering in the offseason. The Penguins have a number of unrestricted free agents that they will have to make decisions on, including Jason Zucker.

Elliotte Friedman brought up the topic on 32 Thoughts, saying "Penguins want to re-sign Zucker, but might not be able to happen." He played very well and will be sought after by many teams. The veteran is now 31 years old and fit in great in the top-six for Pittsburgh this season. He has a fairly big cap hit of $5.5 million and this is the first time since the 2019-20 season where he earned it.

Zucker scored 27 goals and 48 points in 78 games and it was his second most productive season offensively in his career. He will likely be looking for a 4-5 year deal which doesn't necessarily line up with what the plan appears to be for the Penguins. Nevertheless, it appears as though he is interested. But if he's looking for a Stanley Cup and the Penguins are on the decline and offer him less years or money, there will surely be some teams with better offers on the rise with a need for him.
