Ottawa Senators Rumors: Star Forward Being Linked to Division Rival

There have been rumblings that the Ottawa Senators could trade Alex DeBrincat this summer if he is not interested in signing a long-term extension. Now, the Detroit Red Wings are being viewed as a potential landing spot for the star winger because of it.

The Red Wings are aiming to get back into the playoff hunt next season, and bringing in a star forward like DeBrincat could be the perfect way to help make that come to fruition. It also does not hurt that he is a Michigan native, so he would very likely be open to the prospect of signing an extension there.

The Red Wings also have the assets to easily bring in DeBrincat, as they have a plethora of draft picks and quality prospects. Furthermore, the Senators may be open to trading within the division, as they would rather get something back for DeBrincat rather than lose him for nothing during next summer.

Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Red Wings end up acquiring to bring it this summer, but on paper, there appears to be a great match here.
