Washington Capitals Rumors: Forward Becoming Trade Candidate

The 2022-23 season has been a very rough one for the Washington Capitals, and changes could be on the way because of it. As a result, one player who starting to pick up some buzz in the rumor mill is Tom Wilson.

Wilson is set to enter the final season of his contract in 2023-24, so that could lead the Capitals to consider the prospect of shopping him. This is especially true if they decide to begin a complete retool after their immensely underwhelming season. Wilson is one of their most valuable trading assets, too, as he is very physical power forward who chips in well offensively. Thus, they could easily land a first-round pick and notable prospect for him.

Wilson has been limited to only 32 games this season, but when healthy, he has been effective. On the year, he has 12 goals, 21 points, and 95 hits. There is no question that just about every team would love to add him to their top six, so look for him to receive plenty of interest this offseason because of it.
