BREAKING: Huge News Out Of Toronto On Status of Kyle Dubas

In a shocking turn of events, it's been announced that Kyle Dubas will not be returning as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After their 7th straight playoff failure in the Auston Matthews/Mitch Marner era (the last 5 under Dubas), the Leafs will be moving on to a new GM for the future.

Dubas hinted that such a decision was possible, as he admitted that the past several years have exacted a physical and emotional toll on him and his family, and that he would be consulting with them before making a decision on his future.

He also added that if he were not to return to the Leafs, he would not be seeking employment with another team in the short term.

Team president Brendan Shanahan will be holding a press conference at 3:00pm ET to address the stunning development. In the meantime, he released a statement:

"Kyle fostered a great culture within our dressing room and staff, and consistently pushed to make our team better season over season. We wish Kyle and his family the best moving forward and thank him for his valuable contributions.”

One of the big questions this leaves hanging over the team is the future of Auston Matthews. The 2022 Hart Trophy winner and Dubas were tight, and Matthews is eligible for an extension on July 1st. What will become of that is a huge topic of discussion going forward.
