Calgary Flames Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Milan Lucic

Milan Lucic’s expensive contract is finally off the books for the Calgary Flames. The veteran forward has likely played his last game in Calgary because of it, and now there are two teams considering him as a free-agent option – the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

It is not a surprise at the Bruins are looking at Lucic again. They were linked to him leading up to the trade deadline, and he is a beloved figure in their franchise history. Furthermore, with the Bruins having several pending unrestricted free agents and limited cap space, they could look to bring back Lucic as a fourth-line option at a league-minimum cap hit. He would provide them with plenty of toughness and more leadership for next season if signed.

The Lightning, on the other hand, have several unrestricted free agents, and it makes sense that they are considering Lucic as a bottom-six forward addition. It is also possible that Lucic would be willing to play there, as they would provide him with the opportunity to compete for the Stanley Cup again.

Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see what happens with Lucic from here. Expect to see some other clubs in the mix for his services as well.
