Calgary Flames Rumors: Team Interested In Controversial Candidate For GM Vacancy

The Calgary Flames find themselves in a period of transition, with significant changes taking place within the organization.

Following the departure of general manager Brad Treliving and the firing of head coach Darryl Sutter, the Flames are now in search of new leaders to guide the team's future.

As they embark on this crucial task, the Flames are expected to cast a wide net in their search for the most suitable candidates.

Rumors have surfaced, indicating that former Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman has drawn interest from the Flames.

However, Bowman's involvement in the Kyle Beach scandal, which rocked the Blackhawks organization, raises concerns about his eligibility for the position.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, teams are allowed to engage in discussions with Bowman, but any official hiring would be contingent upon receiving clearance from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

As of now, neither Bowman nor former Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville, who is also connected to the scandal, has been granted clearance.

With the NHL draft approaching, which could serve as a milestone for the Flames to have new management in place, the team will continue its search for the best possible candidates while awaiting further developments and the commissioner's decision regarding the eligibility of individuals like Stan Bowman.
